Natalia Szostak: Miejsca Poświęceń - 27.05-30.06 - wystawa w siedzibie SZCZECIN 2016, Willa Lentza

exhibition opens:

Lentz Willa
Al. Wojska Polskiego 84
Szczecin, Poland

The exhibition consists of works from the open series of altars titled Places of Sacrifice. It represents the artist's effort to create her personal iconography where the experience of emigration and the resulting identity crisis provoke her to form her own system of reality classification. Displaying these works inside the historic Lentz Villa is to establish a temporary space of veneration where no linear reality can be found, and the relic-like objects exist eternally as the emanation of presences they depict. This is where animals and Saints mutate together into a new kind of hybrid deity.

Natalia Szostak born in 1980 in Szczecin. She earned a BA in painting and drawing at San Francisco State University in 2007, and two years later won the Emerging Artist Special Award at the International Art competition held by X-Power Gallery in Los Angeles. She currently lives in Szczecin and New York. Her work includes painting, photography, video, and various mixed media. It has been shown in San Francisco, Seattle, New York and London. This is her first solo exhibition and the first in her homeland.
